Our Instructors:

Michelle Jackman:  Ms. Michelle teaches classical ballet to our 4 year olds through Adult.  Ms. Michelle grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma where she began her ballet studies at the age of 10 with Miss Jane Reid of June Runyon School of Ballet.  She performed with Tulsa Ballet Theatre’s The Nutcracker for 4 years and Tulsa Dance Theatre for 7 years.  She continued her studies with The School of Ballet West and The Christensen Centre (now The Ballet Centre in Murray) studying with the late Willam Christensen (founder of Ballet West) and also Michelle Armstrong.  She studied and performed with Anatoli Kucheruk, renowned teacher at the Kirov Academy and former soloist with “Stars of the Bolshoi.”  She studied at the University of Utah and from there transferred with her husband down to Hurricane, UT.  Along with teaching in St. George, she traveled to New York City during summer programs and had the privilege to study with great teachers such as David Howard, Dawn Hillen, and Lisa Lockwood to name a few.  In New York she studied at Broadway Dance Center, Steps on Broadway, and American Ballet Theatre.  She has continued her teaching studies with Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, Ruth Page Center for the Arts in Chicago, and Classical Ballet Academy in Bentonville, Arkansas.  In August 2009 she traveled to Denver, Colorado and studied with Beverly F. Spell and Annie W. Spell, Ph.D. and certified with their Leap 'N Learn - A Comprehensive Early Childhood Dance Syllabus.  Most recently, she was accepted into the American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum to become an ABT Certified Teacher and will be traveling to New York City in August 2010.  She teaches with an emphasis in the Vaganova method; however, the Cecchetti method and the Royal Academy of Dance methods are instituted as well.  Her repertoire includes soloist pieces in Gershwin, Raymonda, Graduation Ball, Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker, Coppelia, Paquita, Swan Lake, Kitri in Don Quixote, and other featured solos.  She treasures each child and believes that there is an inherent beauty in each one just waiting to be discovered.

Monica W. Taylor:  We welcome Ms. Monica this year to our teaching staff!  Ms. Monica teaches classical ballet to our 3-1/2 year olds and our Creative Movement Program.  Ms. Monica treasures opportunities to teach and share with children, and believes that fostering an early attitude of personal potential will lead to lifetime successes.  Ms. Monica has been dancing from the age of three, and believes that movement is not only art; it is an emotional release.  She has been involved with a local cooperative preschool program for five years.  She has also taught all ages and ranges in piano technique and theory.  Her most challenging, yet favorite venue for education is in her home with her three children.  Ms. Monica recently completed her studies in psychology and graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree from Brigham Young University.
